The dispatch board is lined with the trucks leaving today, and the annual contract-logistics tender is waiting in the office. Rates and on-time performance are already filled in. The open line now asks whether you can report the emissions those vehicles actually produced, shipment by shipment.
BMW says it uses primary data from logistics providers first, then ISO 14083 and GLEC v3.1 modelling when that data is unavailable. Mercedes-Benz also calculates logistics emissions from shipment data in line with ISO 14083. Prime contractors that must meet those published standards ask their carriers for the same evidence. That is why tenders now ask whether the data is available by leg and shipment.
Automotive and consumer-goods shippers have published the data standard they expect from logistics providers. In the same market, DSV, DHL and Kuehne+Nagel already answer at shipment and waybill level. Prime-contractor due diligence carries those expectations down to carriers.
CountEmissionsEU entered into force on 1 June 2026. The market is moving toward shipment-level CO₂e and primary-data share entering tender scorecards in 2027–28.
